Along with casting a vote for the next president of the United States on Nov. 4, Florida voters will decide if the state's definition of marriage needs revamping. One of six proposed amendments to the state constitution that will appear on ballots statewide, Amendment 2, the Florida marriage protection amendment, reads as follows: "This amendment protects marriage as the legal union of only one man and one woman as husband and wife and provides that no other legal union that is treated as marriage or the substantial equivalent thereof shall be valid or recognized."

I don't know a lot of people who have a happier marriage than I have.
Correction: I don't know anybody who has a happier marriage than I have. So according to the backers of proposed Amendment 2 to the Florida Constitution, I not only shouldn't worry about the possibility of that amendment passing, I should embrace it.
